Source hierarchy
Observatory records favor the closest available source to a claim. The exact source and review date should appear on the relevant detail page; this directory describes the classes of material the Observatory may use rather than claiming that every source supports every record.

News-feed handling
The live news index reads publisher-provided RSS or Atom feeds. It stores only the headline, short feed summary, publisher, publication time, canonical outbound link and optional feed-provided image. Article bodies are not scraped, copied, rewritten or generated.
Freshness and availability
Source updates occur at different cadences. A source can be unavailable, revise a record or remove a page. The Observatory preserves observation and publication dates, marks genuinely missing information, and asks readers to verify critical facts with the current linked primary source.
A source name is not an endorsement
Named organizations do not sponsor or approve the Observatory merely because their public material is cited. Trademarks and linked content belong to their respective owners. See the Methodology for evidence labels and Editorial Policy for corrections and conflicts.
